Orkney FC seal historic title triumph
Orkney Football Club sealed a first North Caledonian League title in style, winning the title with a 12-1 drubbing of Bunillidh Thistle.
Orkney, knowing three points would seal an historic first league triumph, eased their way past a Thistle side who offered feeble resistance at best.
A quickfire double from Chris Hellewell settled any nerves, before a double from Thorfinn Stout, a Joe Wilson header and a Liam Delday strike put Orkney 6-0 up at the break.
The one-way traffic continued in the second, with further goals from Owen Rendall, Aiden Drever, DJ Moffat, Delday plus two goals from Mark Berry as he signed off his Orkney FC career in the best possible fashion.
The result means that Orkney end a fascinating title race on top, with 39 points and 81 goals from 16 games, and do a silverware double following the Football Times Cup win earlier in the season.
That left Owen Rendall to collect the North Caledonian League trophy, as Orkney celebrated a historic triumph in front of an elated bumper home crowd.
