Orkney RFC thrash Perthshire in penultimate game

Tom Croy leaves a trail of tired defenders in his wake as he scores Orkney’s final try of the afternoon.

Orkney RFC secured a convincing 54-17 win against Perthshire in BT National League Division 3 this afternoon at Pickaquoy.

The home side started brightly with tries from Craig Slater and a brace in quick succession from Philip Ross, but Perthshire fought back to trail by just two points at half-time — 19-17.

However, in the second half it was all Orkney as they ran riot with 35 unanswered points — Tom Croy (2), Alex Kansour, Dean Campbell, and Slater all getting their names on the scoresheet to secure the bonus point win.

Next Saturday, Orkney will play RHC RFC in their last league game before attention turns to rugby sevens.
