Police warning following spate of thefts
Police are urging people to be extra vigilant when on a night out in the town following a spate of thefts in Kirkwall.
A spokeswoman said: “Over the last six months, there have been a number of thefts of ladies’ handbags and purses, which have included a number of mobile phones being stolen, in particular iPhones and Blackberries. These incidents have predominantly taken place within Fusion nightclub.
“The most recent incidents were last weekend and Police are making inquiries into the theft of several ladies bags and purses from within the nightclub on Saturday night.”
Police would like to speak to a male in connection with the most recent incident — described as 5’8”, short dark hair and of heavy build believed to have been wearing a grey jumper.
If anyone has any information relating to the male described, or in relation to the stolen property, they are asked to contact Kirkwall Police Station on 872241.
