Renewables on the agenda for Duke of York’s Orkney visit
HRH The Duke of York is to visit Orkney today, Tuesday.
He will arrive at Kirkwall Airport where he will be met by the Lord-Lieutenant of Orkney, Dr Tony Trickett and OIC convener, Councillor Stephen Hagan.
His visit will be focused on the marine renewable industry especially the finance gap facing the development of wave and tidal technologies.
After chairing a discussion in Kirkwall with representatives from finance companies, technology developers, the Pentland Firth Project developers and Government bodies, the duke will visit the EMEC tidal site at the Fall of Warness and the wave site at Billia Croo.
After a tour and presentation at the EMEC offices, he will visit Lyness.
