Road closures over this week

There will be road closures in the east of Orkney this week, as the council undertake two major projects.

The Graemeshall Road, in Holm, will be closed today and tomorrow as roads teams carry out coastal erosion prevention works. The road will be closed from Graemeshall Farm to the war memorial, at the junction with the Moss Road.

The second Churchill Barrier will also be closed at various times over Wednesday and Thursday to allow for the placement of new barrier blocks.

A council spokesman said: “Every effort will be made to minimise the duration of these closures but drivers should be prepared for delays for the duration of the works.”

“It is hoped that all works will be complete by Thursday, however should there be any unforeseen complications encountered, works will continue in Friday.”
