Spate of thefts across the county

Householders with heating oil tanks are being warned to be vigilant after a couple of properties in Orkney were targeted by thieves.

According to police, a quantity of heating oil was removed from a Tankerness address overnight between Friday and Saturday.

Heating oil was also removed from an address in Birsay between Tuesday, December 27 and Wednesday, February 1.

In addition, materials were stolen from outside a shop on Kirkwall’s Victoria Street between Monday, January 2 and Friday, February 3.
