Surface dressing update

On Monday morning (June 11), surface dressing work will continue in the Bay of Skaill/Skara Brae area, on the B9056 between the B9057 (the Loch of Skaill) and Quoyloo Road.

A signed diversion will remain in place via Quoyloo Road, onto the A967, and then onto the B9055 (the ‘Queen of Aithe road’).

The roadworks will affect public bus service 8S – Kirkwall – Stromness – Skara Brae. The 16:45 from Kirkwall will be unaffected. Outwith this time, the bus will not serve Skara Brae, Marwick, Quoyloo and Birsay Hostel.

Once this section is completed, the team will move later on Monday to the B9055 in Sandwick, which will be closed to traffic between its junction with the A967 at Queena and its junction with the B9057.

A signed diversion will be in place via Quoyloo Road, then onto the A967 as far as the B9056 junction near the Yesnaby turnoff.

Work on the B9055 is expected to continue on Tuesday, June 12, as well.
