Trad Award for Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club
The Orkney Accordion and Fiddle Club have been named Club of the Year, at this year’s annual Scots Trad Music Awards, which is ongoing at the Caird Hall in Dundee.
The awards are currently being broadcast live on television channel, BBC Alba.
In addition, BBC Radio Scotland are broadcasting from the event, which can also be viewed online at www.bbc.co.uk/alba.
One of the county’s longest established traditional music groups, Orkney Accordion & Fiddle club have been meeting and playing together since the late 1970s. The group welcomes accordionists and fiddlers to play traditional music in an informal and friendly atmosphere, meeting weekly, and performing monthly open night concerts with special guests in the summer months.
Orcadian all-girl band, Fara missed out on the prize for Up and Coming Artist of the Year to The League of Highland Gentlemen.
