Aberdeen prove too strong on Thorfinn’s historic night
Aberdeen’s Under-20s side proved too strong for Thorfinn FC this evening on a night that celebrated 125 years of Thorfinn history.
Nineteen-year-old former Manchester City trainee Joe Nuttall was the star for the visitors with a first-half hat-trick as they went in at the break 4-0 ahead.
However, despite an early penalty extending Aberdeen’s lead, Thorfinn fought back and scored two goals in two minutes courtesy of a thunderbolt from Erik Bews and a composed David Delday finish.
The evening had commenced in an emotional fashion with a minute’s applause to Thorfinn player and secretary Steven Miller who passed away recently. Thorfinn’s players wore unique strips in memory of Mr Miller.
Kyle Drever was presented with the Thorfinn Man of the Match award by Mr Miller’s father, David Miller.
