Body of missing Sanday man recovered from the sea

Police have confirmed that the body of a missing Sanday man has been found.

William Tulloch, of Quivals, Sanday, was reported missing from his home on Friday.

A spokesman said: “About 1420hrs on Sunday, January 15, following a search of the area, William was located, by the coastguard helicopter, in the sea at the Otterswick Bay area of Sanday.

“After being recovered from the water by the helicopter crew, he was conveyed to Kirkwall airport and onwards to the Balfour Hospital, where, on arrival, he was pronounced dead.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time and we would like to thank Kirkwall Lifeboat and the Maritime Coastguard Agency for their assistance during this search, including the members of the Sanday auxiliary team.”
