Contestants prepare to take on ‘The Cube’ for charity
Four well-known Orkney folk have stepped up to the challenge, and will take part in a locally organised version of the popular television game show The Cube, to raise money for CLAN Cancer Support this evening.
Marty Flett, Katie Foulis, David Delday and Yvonne Barnett are all gearing up for the fun competition, which will see them battle it out in a series of physical and mental challenges based on the ITV show.
The event was the brain child of local dentist Steven Johnston who has had his own battle with cancer.
He explained: “In the beginning, I wanted to hold a small event in the squash courts, because it had the viewing area — it could only hold around 50 to 60 people seated plus another 30 possibly standing on the balcony.
“As soon as I announced that we were going to be doing this, CLAN got lots of interest, and there was lots of interest on Facebook.
Steven realised the event could potentially raise a lot more money for the charity, and so the venue was changed to the New Phoenix Cinema, at Pickaquoy, instead. Fore more details, click here.
