Festive lighting preparation to bring short delays
As the nights draw in, preparations are in motion to set Orkney aglow with festive lights.
Orkney Islands Council has advised, however, as this work may cause short delays in the centre of Kirkwall, Stromness and St Margarets Hope over coming days.
There will be delays and short road closures while testing of the anchors for festive lighting is carried out over the next few days, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 3, in Kirkwall — on Bridge Street, Albert Street, Broad Street, Victoria Street and Main Street.
Work will then move to Stromness (John Street, Victoria Street and Graham Place) on Friday, November 5, and then onto Cromarty Square and Back Road in St Margaret’s Hope on Saturday, November 6.
The council would like to thank the public in advance for their patience as it carries out this work to bring some winter sparkle to our streets.
