First-hour-free parking ends for the summer
Orkney Islands Council is reminding drivers that the ‘first hour free’ parking which runs over winter ends on April 30.
From May 1, the council car parks in central Kirkwall and Stromness will revert to the summer tariffs.
The fees in the Albert Street, Castle Street, St Magnus Lane and Gunn’s Close Car Parks in Kirkwall and the Ferry Inn Car Park in Stromness will change to 50p for one hour, 1.20p for two hours and £2.50 for three hours.
Signage in these car parks will be changed to reflect the summer tariffs.
