Friends of Neuro Ward ARI in running for award
The charity Friends of the Neuro Ward ARI has been shortlisted as a finalist for a Celebrate Aberdeen award.
The charity which has its roots here in Orkney, is among three charities to have been nominated for the small charity of the year award.
Caroline Critchlow is the co-chairwoman of the charity, along with Carolyn Toshney in Aberdeen.
She estimated that Friends of the Neuro Ward has now raised in excess of £300,000. She also said the refurbishment of the ward is now nearing completion — a major milestone for the charity.
She said: “I am absolutely thrilled that the charity has been nominated, particularly as it is the only one of the three to be run by volunteers. It is a lovely thank you to all the people who have fundraised for us.
The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Aberdeen on September 8.
