Garden festival for Orkney

Plans are underway for a new garden festival, to be held in Orkney next summer.

The Orkney Garden Festival, which will take place from June 17 to June 25, 2017, is the brainchild of Orphir woman Caroline Critchlow, founder of the Friends of the Neuro Ward ARI charity.

According to Caroline, who also helped organise the Orkney Garden Trail in 2014 and 2015, the festival will include, island garden trails, the Beechgrove Garden television programme, workshops, a plant market, wine-tasting events, concerts, guest speakers and more.

She said: “If anyone would like their garden to be included in the Festival or would like to get involved in any way, please get in touch —don’t be shy!”

Caroline’s own garden at her home at the Quoy of Houton in Orphir, will be open to the public for the last time this summer on Sunday, July 3, from 1 – 4pm.

For further information or to contact Caroline see the Friends of the Neuro Ward ARI Facebook page.
