Heaven Is A Place on Earth singer set to visit county?
Orkney could be set to be visited by American pop star Belinda Carlisle next summer, with the singer sparking excitement among fans online at the weekend by asking advice about Orkney on Twitter.
The former lead singer of the Go-Gos is perhaps best known here in the UK for her 1987 No.1 single Heaven Is A Place On Earth, as well as hits such as Circle In The Sand and Leave A Light On For Me.
On Saturday, she asked on Twitter, where she has almost 74,000 followers: “Random question . . . has anyone been to the Orkney Islands? Planning a trip next summer and need some tips.”
Belinda said that during her visit “archaeological sites are the priority — and some good walks” and did not rule out the prospect of playing a gig while she is here, when it was mooted in the replies.
