‘In demand’ pianist in concert
Orkney Arts Society will tonight welcome Japanese virtuoso pianist, Masayuki Tayama as solo performer for the society’s latest musical event.
Much in demand across Europe and Japan, Masayuki Tayama first came to prominence when he won first prize in the Takahiro Sonoda International Piano Competition in Japan. He followed this success by winning numerous top prizes in Europe.
For his Orkney recital, Masayuki Tayama will perform a programme of music by Mozart, Beethoven and Rachmaninov, with Beethoven’s monumental Appassionata Sonata as the centrepiece. The concert will take place at 7.30pm in Stromness Town Hall, and organisers say that, as well as being an exciting programme performed by an acclaimed pianist, the event will provide a further opportunity to enjoy the fine sound of the Arts Society’s Fazioli grand piano.
