Limousin calf takes top cattle prize in Dounby
Today’s Dounby Show culminated in a ten-month-old Limousin cross steer calf shown by Garson Farms, taking the top cattle prize.
The morning’s rain cleared making it an enjoyable and dry day in the West Mainland meaning plenty turned out to witness the fine exhibition of livestock, trade stands and machinery.
The winner of horse exhibit was Millquoy Jedi, a Shetland Pony yearling cob, shown by Millquoy Shetland Pony Stud, Stenness, while in the sheep section, a home-bred Charollais Gimmer, owned by Sheena Coghill, Birsay, was named champion.
The poultry section was won by a two-year-old Old English Game Cockerel, owned by the Hutchison family in Finstown.
In the dogs, for the second year running, the champion was Odin, a chihuahua, owned by Vikki Thomson from Stromness.
