OIC warn public to be wary of doorstep callers
The OIC’s Trading Standards team is reminding folk to think twice before accepting offers of work from doorstep callers.
The advice follows public concerns following reports of cold calling from men offering to put in tarmac paths and driveways.
Trading Standards manager Gary Foubister said: “This type of work can cost over £1,000 and, as it is unsolicited and unplanned, our advice is to be wary if you answer your door to people offering to do work of this kind at short notice.
“A reputable trader will gladly give a consumer time to think and make their own enquiries given the amount of money typically involved.”
