Orcadian musicians get Trad Awards nod
The chances of Orkney claiming a slice of Scots Trad Music Awards success, this year, are looking good, with five acts comprised of homegrown musicians longlisted in the Album of the Year category.
The latest release from Gnoss, a four-piece which includes two Orkney muscians — Aidan Moodie and Graham Rorie — has been given an nod in the annual awards.
As well as The Light of the Moon making the longlist, Graham has also been recognised for his solo release The Orcadians of Hudsons Bay.
Meanwhile, The Chair has made the cut for its latest album, Orkney Monster. Twelfth Day – a duo including Orcadian fiddle player Catriona Price has also been given the nod, as has singer-songwriter Kris Drever.
Now, these Orkney musicians need your help to make the shortlist. To give Gnoss or Graham your vote, all you have to do is select the “I love it” option next to their albums on www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/STMA2021
Voting is open until October 17.
