Orkney look ahead to opening ceremony after Gotland arrival

Orkney’s Island Game athletes arrived in Gotland yesterday afternoon and are now looking ahead to Saturday’s opening ceremony.

All but two of the Orkney contingent arrived in Visby yesterday, with passport problems meaning that two are set to touch down in Gotland today.

Staying in the suburbs of Visby in an apartment complex, there is relaxed atmosphere, with many utilising the pool area.

Today will be all about relaxation for Orkney’s 60-strong side, before the opening ceremony tomorrow evening, in the centre of Visby.

The sport competition begins on Sunday, June 25.
