Orkney RFC to host Berwick
With last weekend’s clash against West of Scotland FC postponed due to travel issues, Orkney RFC hope to get back to BT National League Division 3 business on Saturday with Borders side Berwick due to visit the county.
A combination of the festive break, rearrangements and postponements has meant that 34 days has passed since Orkney’s last outing, a heavy 65-5 defeat away to unbeaten league leaders GHK, and the home side will be hoping that the recent poor weather won’t claim another sporting fixture. Orkney narrowly lost to Berwick 20-19 in October but the islanders will be confident of gaining revenge on their opponents, having gained some impressive victories since then to move into sixth-place in the league table. Berwick are 15 points behind Orkney, with three victories, eight defeats and two draws after thirteen games.
Elsewhere, Perthshire — two points and one place ahead of Orkney — take on third-placed Dumfries Saints, RHC host East Kilbride, bottom side Irvine face a tough test at home to second-placed Haddington, Dalziel play Livingston and league-leaders GHK host fourth-placed West of Scotland.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 12 noon at the Pickaquoy centre pitch.
