Orkney RFC win in first home game of 2012

Orkney RFC beat Highland RFC at Pickaquoy this afternoon in their first home league game this year.

The final score was 24-3 with tries from Andrew Cuddihy and James Linklater before the break, and two from captain William Thomson in the second half, seeing Orkney run out comfortable winners.

The visitors rarely threatened the Orkney line, and although a strong breeze made handling difficult, the home side failed to capitalise on several scoring chances, all too often the final pass not going to hand.

However, the victory earns Orkney a bonus point, and sees a welcome return to winning ways after last weekend’s defeat in the Caledonia Regional Shield final.
