Parish Cup fever set to return
Orkney’s fabled The Orcadian Parish Cup competition makes a return this weekend with defending champions Stromness facing a tricky first round game at home to Birsay.
Stromness face their fellow West Mainlanders in a repeat of last year’s first round tie, and will be hoping for the same level of performances which saw them progress 5-2 over the two legs on that occasion. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm on Sunday evening.
Before that tie however, there are four other ties to be played including three matches on Saturday.
Stronsay are set to welcome their North Isles neighbours Sanday for a 12 noon kick-off, 2014 finalists South Ronaldsay welcome 23-time winners Sandwick at 1pm, before last year’s finalists Holm and Firth travel to KGS’ grass pitch for a 3pm kick-off.
In the penultimate match of the weekend, Rendall and Stenness go head-to-head on Sunday at 3pm at The Rockery in Rendall.
St Ola, St Andrews, and Westray have been given byes to the next round.
