Pier Arts Centre in the running for Scotland’s favourite building
The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness is in the running to be named the “Favourite Building in Scotland from the last 100 years” and there’s just days left for the public to register their vote.
The gallery is included in the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland’s (RIAS) list of the top 100 buildings in Scotland from the last century.
Pier Arts Centre director Neil Firth said: “We are thrilled to be included in this list alongside some of Scotland’s best-known buildings, including the Bon Accord Baths in Aberdeen, Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, and the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. As the most northerly building in contention, it would be great to get in the top ten.
“I would encourage everyone to vote for the Pier Arts Centre at www.foa2016.com/scotstyle to help celebrate one of Orkney’s great recent buildings.”
The top ten buildings will be announced in Edinburgh next Friday, August 19, with the announcement of the winning building announced on November 18.
