Police appeal following assault
Police in Kirkwall are appealing for information in relation to an assault, alleged to have taken place last Friday, December 1, in St Mary’s village, Holm.
According to police, at around 10.40pm a man refused to pay a taxi fare totalling £17.00 after being taken to the Park of Ayre.
Allegedly, the man later assaulted the taxi driver when challenged about paying the fare at the road bordering Loch House and The Strond in St Mary’s.
Police have described the suspect as being 5’9″ tall, having a slim build and fair hair. He had a distinctive tribal tattoo on one arm and his floral design River Island t-shirt was left behind at the locus. It is suspected that the male had been drinking in Kirkwall town centre as he entered the taxi at the pier head taxi rank
Anyone with any information is asked to get in touch with Kirkwall police station on the 101 phone number.
