Prehistoric technology weekend at the Tomb of the Eagles
The Tomb of the Eagles, in South Ronaldsay, will play host to a “prehistoric technologist” this weekend, with Mark Keighley coming up from Aberdeenshire for four days of demonstration of ancient craft.
The former head of interpretation at Archaeolink, near Aberdeen, Mark will be at the Tomb of the Eagles for four days, from today, Friday, Easter Monday, from 10.30am until the centre closes at 5.30pm each afternoon.
This work is part of the 2012 celebration of ten years of the Tomb of the Eagles visitor centre. However, the Tomb of the Eagles itself — the Isbister Chambered Cairn — has been attracting interest for 5,000 years, albeit with something of a gap until it was rediscovered, in 1958, by local farmer Ronnie Simison MBE.
