Remanded in custody after pub assault

A 19-year-old has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to assaulting a man by striking him on the head with a glass in the Torvhaug pub in Kirkwall last night.

Sentence on Michael James Webster, who appeared from custody at Kirkwall Sheriff Court this morning, was deferred until January 30 for reports.

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Webster appeared in court in private in relation to an assault to severe injury, alleged to have taken place in December last year.

On this charge he made no plea or declaration, and had been released on bail.
