Resurgent Glasgow Academicals the test for Orkney RFC

Fifth meets seventh in week ten of BT National League Division 3 this Saturday as Orkney RFC take on Glasgow Academicals in Glasgow.

Just one point separates Orkney from their opponents, with the islanders hoping to make it back-to-back victories following last weekend’s ten-try 63-12 victory over Livingston.

During that victory, powerful centre Marcus Guthrie suffered a horrific double leg break, joining the likes of Alan Brown, Ally Linklater and Kevin Sinclair on the long-term injury list.

BT West Division 1 champions Glasgow also got a positive result of their own last weekend, holding league leaders Highland to a 29-all draw, meaning that Saturday, September 24 remains the last time the side tasted defeat — a run of five matches.

With a three-week break following the match, Orkney will be desperate to pick up just their second victory on the road this season.

The match is set to kick-off at 11.30am at New Anniesland.
