Road works update for the weeks ahead
Works are progressing with the slab repairs in Kirkwall which will hopefully be completed within the next couple of weeks.
The long-awaited flagstone maintenance and replacement through the main streets of Stromness have now started in John Street, but the weather has taken a turn for the worse so may delay progress.
Surfacing works on Moss Road, Holm, should be completed by the end of this week, with Orkney Islands Council’s operational team then moving over to the Biggings Road, Toab, on Monday, November 1 all being well. This will mean a road closure will be in place, which will be signed and necessary diversions in place.
It is also planned that works will get under way on the B9047 (south of Pegal Bridge), Hoy on Monday, November 1, which are expected to last around one week before moving down to Pier Road, Longhope on Monday, November 8.
The council would like to thank everyone for their patience as they carry out these important works. They also urge folk to please abide by all the speed limits and traffic controls in place.
