Rovers lose out in Highland Amateur Cup semi-final

Kirkwall Rovers missed the opportunity to book their place in the 2012 Highland Amateur Cup final, losing 4-0 to Avoch in today’s semi-final in Castletown.

The cup holders scored two goals in each half, but Rovers – cheered on by a large and vocal travelling support – were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet in a lively second half, with Steven Tulloch denied from close range and James Tait rattling the underside of the crossbar with a 25-yard free-kick.
