Scottish Water to carry out repairs on Bridge Street

Scottish Water will be carrying out essential repairs to the water network close to the north end of Bridge Street in Kirkwall on Thursday and Friday this week.

To enable the repairs to be completed safely by local contractor, Andrew Sinclair Ltd, Bridge Street will need to be closed to traffic at its north end for both days, with the road expected to re-open on the morning of Saturday, February 5.

Scottish Water’s team leader Michelle Miller said: “We would like to thank customers and road users for their understanding while we carry out essential repairs to the water network that serves customers at the north end of Bridge Street. The work is needed to repair a leak and ensure all customers can continue to receive a reliable supply of clear, fresh drinking water, avoiding the risk of unplanned disruption in the future.

“We recognise that Bridge Street is an important road and ask drivers and businesses to make alternative arrangements over this period. Our team on site will do all they can to complete their work quickly and safely, while minimising any disturbance to nearby homes and businesses. Safe access past our working area for pedestrians will remain possible throughout our work.”
