Sessions bound for St Magnus Festival
In a change to the published programme, John Sessions will be appearing at the 2014 St Magnus International Festival.
Mr Sessions will be playing Sir Harry Lauder in two performances of Keep right on to the end of the road at the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall.
Keep right on to the end of the road is inspired by Harry Lauder’s autobiography, A Minstrel in France.
In 1914, Lauder was a much-loved international star, when his beloved son, John, set off to the war in France. Lauder threw himself into a big revue to encourage new recruits and entertain the troops, and awaited John’s return on leave, when he was to be married.
John didn’t come home – he was killed in action on December 28, 1915.
This year’s festival runs from June 20-26.
