‘Significant improvements’ at Stromness Primary
Pupils at the new Stromness Primary school benefit from a “very positive learning environment”, education inspectors conclude in a report published today.
The Education Scotland inspection team spent time at the school in March, following visits in 2011 and 2012. After the 2012 visit, the team decided that the school had not made sufficient progress with developing aspects of the children’s learning experience.
This year, the inspectors visited the new school building for the first time – and left with a far more positive picture.
At the end of their visit, they concluded that there have been “significant improvements in key areas of the school’s work” since the original inspection.
The OIC must now provide the inspectors with a report within 12 months outlining how well the improvements to the school have been sustained. They will then decide whether to carry out a further inspection visit.
The inspection report is available on the Education Scotland website.
