St Magnus Cathedral welcomes milestone visitor

Jacqueline Noguera from the Philippines was the 100,000th person to stride through the new cathedral vestibule.

St Magnus Cathedral played host to a very special visitor this Thursday, as Jacqueline Noguera from the Philippines became the 100,000th person to walk through its newly refurbished vestibule.

Jacqueline is visiting Orkney as one of the crew members on the cruise ship MSC Poesia.

The cathedral’s visitor services assistant Ross Flett was on hand to present Jacqueline with a small bag of Orkney goodies to mark the occasion.

Ross and Jacqueline are pictured at the new cathedral vestibule, which was unveiled in April, along with two of her colleagues from the ship.

Visitor services officer Fran Hollinrake said: “It has been wonderful to have the new vestibule open for the season, and we are delighted to have welcomed our 100,000th visitor.

“The response to the new entry has been really positive — it really enhances the cathedral, letting in lots of light and creating a very welcoming space.”
