Stromness Yule Log Pull cancelled
The annual Stromness Yule Log Pull has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The news was confirmed at a meeting of the Stromness Community Council last night.
Speaking on behalf of the Stromness Development Trust, Kris Bevan announced that the event would not be going ahead this Hogmanay.
However, since funding has already been secured through the Visit Scotland Winter Festival Fund, they have received the go ahead to use the funding for another event to mark Hogmany in Stromness.
A statement on the Stromness Development Trust Facebook page said: “The Stromness Community Development Trust and Stromness Yule Log Pull committee have made the decision to cancel this years event, due to COVID-19.
“Apologies to everyone who was looking forward to this years Yule Log Pull, we hope that the event will be able to make a return in 2022.
“We are looking at alternative ways to mark the event and hope to be able to announce more on this soon!”
