Tall ship set to return

Following the visit to Orkney during the Tall Ships Race this summer, it has been announced that the three-masted topsail schooner Gulden Leeuw will make a return visit to Stromness over the Easter weekend in 2012.

The Class A tall ship will be in port for three days during April 7-9, when it will conduct three, three hour sails around Scapa Flow.

Tickets will sold to the general public for each event. This will give around 600 passengers a chance to sail on a tall ship once again.

There will also be an opportunity for up to 60 people of all ages to sail on the Gulden Leeuw  as sail trainees the week prior to Easter, from Amsterdam to Stromness.

Full details will be published on the  Marine Services website www.orkneyharbours.com before the end of October. It is hoped that tickets will go on sail for the day sail outs in Scapa Flow prior to Christmas.
