The race to Lapland begins

Orkney’s Healthy Living Centres (HLCs) begin a “virtual” race to Lapland today, Saturday.

The Winter Challenge is a race to complete the 1,162 miles to Lapland, using fitness equipment.

The HLCs taking part are Hoy, Shapinsay, Rousay, Westray, Sanday, Stronsay and St Margaret’s Hope.

Each 100 calories burnt is one more mile, and the first centre to complete the 1,162 miles, or that which is closest, will be announced on December, 23.
