Thorfinn beat Avoch to reach Highland Amateur Cup final

Thorfinn reached the final of the Highland Amateur Cup this afternoon by beating last year’s runners-up Avoch in Halkirk.

Central midfielder DJ Moffat and striker Jerry McBeth got the goals as the two-time winners won 2-1 to seal a place in the final, due to be played on Saturday, August 27.

The Kirkwall club will play defending champions Wick Groats who beat Western Isles side Lochs 1-0 in the other semi-final as they attempt to win a third Highland Amateur crown. Thorfinn will be aiming for revenge after Groats overcame the 1988 and 2009 winners in the 2013 final.
