Top sheep title at County Show goes to Halley
Just as the sun was beginning to break through the clouds this afternoon, a Texel gimmer shown by Elaine Eunson,of Halley, Deerness, was declared the sheep champion at this year’s County Show.
The gimmer was out of a home-bred ewe and sired by a Strathbogie-bred ram.
Elaine said: “I’m absolutely delighted. It’s a great surprise.
“I just hoped we could put on our best show – I wasn’t expecting to get this far.”
Standing reserve to the champion was a Charollais ewe from Sheena Coghill, of Muce Farm, Birsay.
