Two new Kalisgarth houses open to the public

Two new properties at Westray’s Kalisgarth care facility will be officially opened at a ceremony on the island tomorrow, Tuesday.

Orkney Islands Property Developments Ltd built the two houses to provide extra accommodation at Kalisgarth. The properties are are semi-detached with 2 bedrooms, lounge/kitchen and shower-room.

Funding was partly provided through the Scottish Government’s Innovation and Investment Fund to the tune of £52.800. The build was carried out by Danny Harcus Construction — the local builder in Westray — and the houses will be ready for occupation in early December.

The opening ceremony is at 3.30pm on Tuesday and from 4pm the residents of Westray will have the opportunity to view the houses.
