Update on Ayre Mills roundabout road works
Unfortunately, weather-related delays has meant that phase two of the resurfacing works on Ayre Mills roundabout only got underway this morning.
That means the diversions in place have now changed and these will be signed. Access to the roundabout from Ayre Mills and Grainshore Road has been closed, with signed diversions via Pickaquoy Road and Hatston Brae. Three-way traffic lights will be in place.
Access to Ayre Mills filling station will be maintained throughout the works. Public bus services X1, 4, 6, 7, 8S, 9 and X10 will follow the diversions.
These works are anticipated to continue this week, meaning there are knock-on delays to the start of works on Hoy. Updates will be provided as soon as possible. Orkney Islands Council wishes to apologise for delays and inconvenience caused during the resurfacing, and once again thank the public for their understanding as they carry out this important work.
