Patty Boonstra @ Northlight
August 5, 2018Coming up this weekend in the Northlight Gallery, Stromness, is an exhibition of linocuts and other works by PattyBoonstra, an artist living and working in South Ronaldsay.
Parts of the exhibition have been touring Orkney, from St Margaret’s Hope to Kirkwall and now Stromness.
Discussing the show, Three types of Ambiguity, Patty said: “The starting point for the series of linocuts on show was to explore the various meanings and perceptions of one pictorial expression of a general principle or truth. At the same time, I wanted to try different techniques of linoleum cutting and printing. I combined the two by concentrating on the well-known proverbial principle of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” as evinced by The Three Wise Monkeys.
A preview of the exhibition will take place at Northlight Gallery, on Friday, August 3, from 7pm to 9pm. The exhibition will be running at the gallery from Saturday, August 4, until Thursday, August 9, with opening times from 10am to 5pm.
