Kirkwall parkrun's first birthday
April 20, 2019 9:30 amKirkwall’s parkrun — a free, weekly 5K fun run — will celebrate its first birthday on Saturday morning, with organisers hopeful that a bumper turnout will help mark the milestone.
This Saturday’s 52nd run, beginning at 9.30am at the Peedie Sea, will mark 12 hugely successful months.

The Burning Hell and Randolph's Leap
April 20, 2019This weekend will bring double delight for music fans, as not one but two visiting bands perform at Orkney venues.
Canadian duo The Burning Hell (pictured) will be joining Scottish singer-songwriter Randolph’s Leap (aka Adam Ross) at gigs in Hoy and Kirkwall this Friday and Saturday night, respectively.
First performing at the Gable End Theatre, before moving on to Kirkwall’s Sound Archive, both acts have said they are excited to be visiting the county.

A Pie, a Play and a Pint
April 20, 2019There will be a repeat performance of Stromness Drama Club’s prize-winning play, Shakers, by John Godber and Jane Thornton this Saturday, in the Neuk at the Albert Hotel, Kirkwall.
The event, entitled A Pie, a Play and a Pint, gives the team an opportunity to perform in front of an audience again, before heading off to compete at the Scottish Community Drama Association finals in Kirkcaldy, at the end of the month, April 25 to 27.

Kirkwall City Pipe Band at the Sound Archive
April 21, 2019The Kirkwall City Pipe Band and some visiting players will be playing at The Sound Archive on Sunday.

Open Singles Knockout Darts at the Legion
April 20, 2019The Kirkwall Branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding an open singles knockout darts competition this Saturday.
Names must be in by 8pm, with £250 in prize money to be split between the top players.
