Yet more high winds on the way

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the Orkney area, with gale force winds forecast for the next 24 hours or so.

Due to deteriorating weather conditions, ferry companies have already reported some timetable amendments, with some sailing’s which are under review.

The Met office this morning, Wednesday, warned of south or south-east gales, veering south-west later, 6 to gale 8, increasing severe gale 9 or storm 10 for a time.

The winds are to be accompanied by wintry showers.
