Flagstone maintenance work gets under way in Stromness
Maintenance work on the new flagstones in the centre of Stromness kicks off today, Monday.
As a result, motorists are asked to take extra care when driving through John Street and Victoria Street in Stromness over the next few weeks.
According to the OIC, a small number of flagstones, which have worked loose, will be reset to make sure they form a firm and even surface for vehicles and pedestrians.
Gavin Barr, the OIC’s executive director of development and infrastructure, said: “With the work due to start next week, we would ask drivers to take particular care while it is under way. We expect the streets to stay open for most of the time, although there may be some delays and a brief road closure towards the end of the maintenance programme.”
