Back by popular demand – second Gunnie Moberg open day
Another chance to explore the work of the photographer Gunnie Moberg is on offer in Stromness this weekend.
A second Gunnie Moberg Archive open day takes place at Stromness Library today, Saturday, from 1-4pm.
This follows the success of the first open day, when more than 60 people took the opportunity to delve into a sample of the extensive archive of the Swedish photographer who made Orkney her home.
For four decades Gunnie documented the islands through her photography, creating a cultural and artistic treasury. As well as thousands of images, the archive also contains volumes of newspaper clippings, book proofs, diaries, correspondence and the artist’s cameras.
The open day is part of a two year project to digitise, catalogue and publicise the Gunnie Moberg Archive funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
