Balfour Baillie’s 19-month-old Limousin cross heifer took the champion’s prize in the cattle section of today’s Christmas Prime Stock Show at Orkney Auction Mart.

Mr Baillie, of Sebay Cottage, Tankerness, said he was delighted to have won and commented that it had been a stronger show than in previous years. The heifer was sired by Powerhouse Elite.

Reserve champion was an April 2013-born Limousin cross steer, shown by Inga Kemp, Greenhall, Deerness. The stot was sired by Chytodden Conan.

After the cattle show, Scott and Brown of Biggings, in Stenness, won the prize for the best pair of prime lambs with two homebred Beltex crosses.

The reserve prize went to James Stevenson, The Bu, Orphir, with two Texel crosses.
