This morning saw bulls from around Orkney take the floor at Orkney Auction Mart, as the Orkney Bull Breeders Association (OBBA) held their show.

With Brian Ridland, from Aikerness, Evie, taking up judging duties for the day four breed champions and three reserves were chosen.

The Shorthorn section’s champion was the March 2017-born Nearhouse Legend, shown by J. M. Lennie & Co, Nearhouse, Tankerness. The bull’s sire was Pentland Emperor and the dam was Nearhouse Jasmine.

The Limousin section’s cup was taken home by Laga Farms Ltd, Arwick, Evie, for their bull Lagas Nutcracker, which was sired Polnessan Lovejoy and out of Grahams Honeysuckle

Meanwhile, the Charolais section’s prize went to Dounby Norton Lad — a February 2017-born bull sired by Goldies Eddy and out of Dounby Gemma — shown by Messrs Spence, Norton, Dounby.

Finally, the winner of the Aberdeen Angus Section was the April 2017- born Burnside Extra, shown by  P. M. Hepburn, Messigate, Tankerness. Burnside Extra’s sire is Newlot Bekcham P121 and he is out of Burnside Elane K442.

After picking his winners, Mr Ridland commended the quality present at this morning’s show.
