The cargo ship Nicola, which broke down in the Pentland Firth a month ago, has left Scapa Flow under tow to Invergordon, where repairs are to be carried out on the vessel.

The ship was at the centre of an emergency on October 19 when the vessel – manned by a crew of eight – broke down in the Pentland Firth, just off Strathy Point.

At the time the Coastguard emergency tug Herakles was sent to her aid and towed the ship into Scapa Flow, where she had remained ever since.

Early this  morning, Wednesday, the vessel was towed from Scapa with the Orkney Towage tugs Harald and Einar involved in the operation.
